2012 Challenger players and Hopkins HS baseball team who served as buddies on 5/20
The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League to enable boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. Today, more than 30,000 children participate in more than 900 Challenger Divisions worldwide.

The Challenger Program encourages the use of "buddies" for the Challenger players. The buddies assist the Challenger players on the field, they encourage the players to bat and make plays themselves. However, the buddy is always nearby with help or a tip when needed.
Buddies are regularly filled by HALL players, siblings or other community youth looking to get involved. Buddies are assigned to a player for the entire season and often result in friendships that last after the season.
There are no playing fees to participate in the Challeger Program at HALL. All Challenger players can participate in games FREE of charge. Raising a child with special needs can present families with extra expenses and challenges throughout life. This program is HALL's gift to these families and it is our desire to provide a joy filled day of baseball where everyone goes home with smiles and memories that last a lifetime
If you, or your business would like to help support the Challenger Program, tax deductible donations are accepted to help cover the cost associated with running this program. Donations can be mailed to:
